ICN recently acquired a unique site in Hemiksem, in the Belgian province of Antwerpen. The real estate developer, with branches in Hoogstraten and Luxembourg, bought the unique land which is located between the St. Bernard’s Abbey, a greenbelt and the Scheldt from RPD, a company specialised in the development of commercial real estate.

In time, luxurious flats will be built on this exclusive site. ICN is very enthusiastic about the recently acquired land. The future construction site covers an area of more than 2.2 hectares. In addition, the site is in a quiet location and park and water views are guaranteed for the future flats. The beautiful location, where waterfront living will be possible in the future, was the deciding factor for ICN to buy the site. The seller doesn’t need convincing of the value of the site either. “It is without a doubt a place that breathes history. I bought it as a long-term investment, but after coming into contact with ICN I opted for cooperation and sale,” explains Philippe Vanderpoorten, Managing Director of RDP.

However, the site will not be developed for the foreseeable future. The current buildings on the site are still leased to various companies, including a powder coating company and a company specialised in railway construction. Last year it was announced that the neighbouring area of 25 hectares, better known as the Bekaert site, will be developed in time by three Flemish real estate developers, including Compagnie Het Zoute from Knokke. This site would house 625 housing units, including a park and a residential care boulevard.
